The Greensboro Fire Department's - primary mission is to provide fire, medical, hazardous material, and technical rescue response within the geographic boundaries of the City and first responder medical support to county Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers.
Fire protection is provided by 584 full time positions (FTE), operating 25 fire stations, 24 engine companies, 11 ladder companies (quints), 5 Battalion Chief vehicles, a heavy rescue company, two Hazardous Materials Teams, a Commander, and necessary support equipment and personnel.
